THE COLOR PURPLE

The star of this project is a charming mini-loft, defined by violet as its signature hue; a bold chromatic
choice that captivates with its irresistible charm

In the historic centre of Ceglie Messapica, architect Ermenegildo Pozzi, having purchased his main residence, was later able to acquire a small neighbouring home to welcome friends and guests.

Lacking both an outdoor space and a courtyard, and being rather dark inside, the decision to introduce a strong colour identity proved essential.

Violet, in all its nuances, takes centre stage. As the house is located on the ground floor and receives little natural light, this strong chromatic identity was essential to counterbalance the dimness.

The use of locally sourced materials for the flooring – such as local chianca stone and crushed terracotta – was a necessary and deliberate choice.

In the living area, the sofa was built in masonry for practicality, and the patchwork of fabrics has been masterfully arranged and harmonised through bespoke upholstery.

All furnishings are reclaimed pieces, sourced from abandoned homes and Sunday markets. The floor, made of reclaimed chianca stone, strongly evokes the DNA of the local territory.

A shift in colour tone can be found in the bathroom, the only room where the dominant violet gives way to a rich burgundy shade. Here, a vintage zinc baby bath has been repurposed as a washbasin, and a mosaic of reclaimed mirrors, collected from various markets, creates a distinctive wall feature.
