The double soul of a creative: window creative director at Moncler and co-founder of Poldo Dog Couture
A touch of madness, plenty of style, and an ocean of love, for both fashion and animals. So, paws up for tailor-made solutions inspired by our most charming and sophisticated furry friends…
Nothing about what Maurizio Azzimonti does could ever be described as ordinary. He’s an explosive, multifaceted personality who thrives on freedom, instinct, and surprise.

Born in Milan in 1970, Azzimonti spent fifteen years as the visual manager for Ralph Lauren before becoming the window creative director for Moncler in 2004. Eight years ago, his deep love for dogs led him to co-found Poldo Dog Couture with Riccardo Gardoni and Rossella Barbuto. This company has since become a world leader in luxury accessories and apparel for our four-legged companions.

Azzimonti explained: “When I started restoring my house, I made several tailored modifications, expanding it with a stone structure but keeping the soul of the original building, a late 18th-century farmhouse. I don’t like minimalism, I love travelling, and I’m constantly collecting new pieces. My inspiration was the Ralph Lauren-style country house.”

Speaking of Ralph Lauren, let’s revisit the steps of your career… “I worked for them for 15 years, starting with the setup of the showroom on Via San Barnaba in Milan. Then, 20 years ago, Remo Ruffini introduced me to his vision for the Moncler relaunch, a project I found immediately captivating. At the time, there was just one boutique in St. Moritz. In two decades, we’ve opened many more worldwide.”

But there comes a moment of shifting perspective and exploring new languages… “Poldo Dog Couture was born from the idea of creating high-end, made-in-Italy clothing for dogs. Remo Ruffini was immediately enthusiastic about the idea, which led to the launch of a dedicated Moncler dog puffer collection. The visibility we gained opened doors to collaborations with other prestigious brands, including Armani and Missoni.”
Once I became independent, I went all in with dogs
