NICK MALTESE. THE IRRIVERENT SOUL

29/07/2024

The prestigious Milanese studio ranges from interior design to architectural projects, with a particular focus on entertainment and hospitality.

A new challenge: urban regeneration

Brilliant, bold, and cheeky enough. For the prestigious Nick Maltese studio, creativity is a simple matter if directed towards one goal: to surprise.

The studio, led by Nick Maltese and Federico Pagetti, has now become a leading name in the interior design industry, especially in the entertainment and hospitality fields.

Nick Maltese and Federico Pagetti embody a multifaceted and irreverent personality at the same time. Do you like this definition? “Absolutely, but not for self-celebratory reasons,” Nick Maltese replies. “The desire to design something irreverent arises rather from the idea of stirring minds…”

Where does your inclination for entertainment and hospitality come from? “Simply from the fact that we really enjoy experimenting. Anyone who turns to us for a housing project must necessarily have very clear ideas about what to do. Differently, in hospitality, we have more opportunity to express our world: here we design places for the multitude, with a view to giving life to real experiences.”

You have been involved in the Rinascita Urbana project, for the redevelopment of over forty villages of historical and cultural significance in Calabria and Sicily. A terrain of action with a different flavor for you… “We are very excited about this project. The idea of redeveloping semi-abandoned places is wonderful. There is a great desire for rediscovery with evocative references to the historical and artistic value of the place. A model, aesthetic as well as business, to be proposed again in other areas of Italy, in my opinion”.

A new interpretative frontier in which to bring together the many worlds of study, between imagination and eclecticism, in the name of that harmony between opposites that automatically generates attraction.
