“Dziki Dom” or “Wild house” is a beautiful and inte-resting farm with eclectic features, unique in its kind and perfectly integrated into the surrounding nature.
Designing your own home is sometimes a challen-ge, but also a satisfaction when everything has been done. This is what happened to the owners of this farm at the foot of the Bieszczady Mountains in Poland. The name “Dziki Dom” – literally “Wild house” – evokes pristine landscapes.
Kasia, the landlady, said: «Nature inspired us in cho-osing the shape and the façade of the building. Ourabode is located on the site of a former farm, and the-re was once a barn on this land. We wanted to rein-tegrate in the landscape the same traditional shapetypical of the Polish countryside –, and a comple-tely natural material: straw. We designed the structure using intuition and common sense, but above allimagination; we have fulfilled the dream of living inthe countryside. We wanted “the time of clocks”, butthe most important thing was that our children could spend their childhood like in the old days. »

It took four years to build this house which, on theoutside, boasts a thatched roof and, inside, is fullof murals that act as a scenic backdrop for the custom-made furniture.
Kasia and Rafałs’ dream of having a farm – also suitable for welcoming guests – came true.

The buildinghighlights the shape of grey rock, well integrated into the environment. From the roof to the ground, the building is entirely covered with reeds, and probably, this is the only house of its type in Poland. The tha-tched roof has excellent thermal insulation and requires no maintenance, ageing naturally.
If you think the façade is austere, the interiors will surprise you, with the chromatic choices and the rich details. The mood is really unexpected: on some walls, local plan-ts and animals give life to a fantastic landscape withdill plants, butterflies, herons and grey parrots drawnby Kasia and painted by a young local artist. Green backgrounds infuse a relaxed aura that calls to mind the quiet mountains where the couple chose to livewith their children, simultaneously creating a boutique guest house.

Kasia has designed various pieces offurniture, such as those in the kitchen or the roundtables made by local carpenters. The beautiful purplesofa in the living room, the wallpaper and the lampsare produced by Polish companies. The pieces blendtogether, creating a decidedly contemporary mix with high-quality natural materials: from wood to stone, from ceramics up to antiques that have been given anew life.
And what about the garden? It is teeming with country flowers and pumpkins! Kasia discovered her vocation and innate passion for gardening during the construction of the buildings.
