Through a recent renovation, Dot Design changes the style and gives charm to an old flat, which now can tell a new story of modernity and timeless design.
The flat displayed on these pages is placed in Valdagno, in a small 1930s residential area within the now-famous “Social City” or “City of Harmony”, wanted for its employees by the wool industrialist Gaetano Marzotto, and designed by Francesco Bonfanti.
This is the renovation of the piano nobile of a building, purchased by a couple. With great surprise, the spouses later discovered that in the past, it was the residence of the paternal grandfather of one of them.
A pleasant coincidence that has given them further motivation to make it enchanting, welcoming and performing.

This wish was fulfilled by the expertise of the Dot Design Arzignano (Vicenza) team, who worked to carry out a modern renovation, but respectful of the charm of the time, restoring the old herringbone oak floors and preserving the old multicoloured Palladiana floors; the old stained larch boiserie that covers the bow window has also been maintained.
Starting from these key points that tell the history and the roots of the property, modernity has written a new chapter, made up of comforts and dynamic views, always resulting in balanced and captivating elegance.

From the enveloping and refined living room, we easily move to a further relaxation area created in the bow window, brighten up by aligned windows that expand the environment, making it a real “vent” towards the outside.
The white and bright kitchen with the authentic Palladiana floors – recovered during the restoration – is practical and functional, with pure-white shades, decorated on the bottom with tiles that call to mind old cement tiles.
The master bedroom is relaxing and harmonious, cocooned by the parquet, which is also evidence of the ancient origins of the house, while in the rigorous bathrooms, white and grey chequerboard marble has been used for the floors and walls.

The lighting design boasts recessed lighting fixtures on the ceilings, combined with decorative pendant lamps that create different and pleasant atmospheres, according to the needs.
The choice of each piece of furniture was very careful and aimed at high-quality products: the idea of using Fornasetti wallpaper on some walls added another touch of modernity and charm; moreover, combining modern and functional furnishings with some significant pieces – re-edited and signed by Gio Ponti – resulted in different and customized areas.
The result shows a warm and welcoming home, where a lot of books, design objects and life memories coexist.
