A 1970s house-workshop regains its light and splendour through an extensive and meticulous renovation
The renovation of this villa, set in the evocative landscape of Franciacorta, began with an apparently simple idea: to merge different spaces, stories, and functions within a coherent, light-filled project.
Gianfranco Di Costanzo and Daniel Facchetti from Flussocreativo Studio placed contextual awareness at the heart of the design, aiming to create a fluid spatial arrangement that would turn a 1970s house-workshop into a modern and welcoming home enriched with meaningful touches.
The starting point was the owner’s desire to eliminate the rigid separation between the ground floor – the workshop – and the first floor – the residence – in order to create a single, unified living space. To achieve this, the studio designed and built a central tower: a small new volume housing the staircase, which also acts as a visual and functional connection between the two levels.
The interior design is built on a delicate balance between classic atmospheres and contemporary accents. A minimalist style is expressed through materials such as resin, painted iron, and wood, which interact with historic elements: exposed bricks, original stonework, and the entrance sideboard, a cherished piece that survived the renovation and now holds sentimental value.
The true star of the interior is the central staircase: a sculptural composition of iron steps alternating solids and voids, framed by recessed lighting tracks. This feature is more than a vertical connection; it is a play of light and geometry, where magnetic profiles allow precise adjustment of the lighting, adapting it to the atmosphere of the moment.
